FOOSA FESTIVAL

Experience the magic of three incredible programs all in two spectacular weeks!
Our two-week summer intensive is designed for musicians who are willing to dedicate themselves to a demanding daily schedule. The program includes orchestra rehearsals, daily lessons, master classes, individual practice, a professional orchestral recording session, and numerous performance opportunities, including a concerto competition.
We offer three programs, to accommodate various playing levels.

FOOSA Philharmonic Program
Our FOOSA Philharmonic is a pre-professional orchestra that allows advanced musicians of graduate school, college, and high school age* to enjoy a side-by-side performance experience with our internationally renowned faculty members.
*A select number of exceptionally advanced younger pre-college students may be offered spots in the FOOSA Philharmonic. For the most part, students in this age group will be steered to our new FOOSA Symphony Program. In all cases, eligibility will be decided on the basis of submitted audition videos and teacher recommendations. -

FOOSA Symphony Orchestra Program
Introducing the FOOSA Symphony! This new program for 2025 is designed for middle, high school, and college musicians who are serious about expanding their orchestral experience. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with standard orchestral repertoire and explore chamber music.
The FOOSA Symphony will include a full range of orchestral instruments, such as winds, brass, harp, and percussion. Musicians will not only play in an orchestra but will also perform alongside faculty members, gaining valuable mentorship and insight. Additionally, participants will act as coaches to younger musicians, sharing their expertise and reinforcing their knowledge of technique and musicianship.
The program will conclude with an exciting concert at the Fresno State Concert Hall, showcasing the talents and hard work of the FOOSA Symphony. This new initiative promises to offer unparalleled growth for participants, both as performers and as mentors in the musical community.

FOOSA Chamber Orchestra Program
The FOOSA Chamber Orchestra is exclusively for string players and is designed for musicians typically aged 14 and under. Musicians who are admitted to our FOOSA Chamber Orchestra program benefit from daily group lessons with our exceptional faculty, as well as sectionals and orchestra/ensemble rehearsals. They will have the opportunity to perform in student recitals and in a final concert at Fresno State. Students in this program attend classes from 9am-1pm every day. There is no residential component of this program--commuters only.
